Inmarsat was the world's first global satellite communications provider. It still is the only one to offer a mature range of modern communications services to maritime, land-mobile, aeronautical and other users. Equipment supports links for phone, fax and data communications at up to 256kbits/s to more than 220,000 ship, vehicle, aircraft and portable terminals. Inmarsat has just completed the launch of it's 4th generation spacecraft-the 14 satellites-that enables communications of up to 492kbits/sec-a revolution in the mobile satcoms arena.
