Wireless Communication Engineer - SDR & FPGA Development
Windhoek,
Namibia
Position Summary
We are building a dedicated team of Wireless Communication Engineers to develop the next generation of Software Defined Radio (SDR) capabilities. The role covers the full path from concept to hardware: designing, modelling and simulating advanced wireless communication systems in MATLAB/Simulink, then taking those designs through HDL code generation to deployment on FPGA-based SDR platforms.
We are looking for self-driven, technically strong engineers who enjoy solving difficult problems, take ownership and turn innovative concepts into working solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced wireless communication algorithms and SDR waveforms.
- Model, simulate and verify communication systems in MATLAB and Simulink.
- Develop FPGA-ready signal processing algorithms using Model-Based Design methodologies.
- Generate and optimise synthesisable VHDL/Verilog using MATLAB HDL Coder.
- Perform fixed-point conversion, resource optimisation and timing analysis for FPGA deployment.
- Implement and validate communication algorithms on FPGA-based SDR platforms.
- Analyse system performance under a range of channel conditions and operational scenarios.
- Support integration, testing and hardware verification.
- Collaborate with the RF, FPGA, Embedded Software and Systems Engineering teams.
- Research and evaluate emerging wireless communication technologies and SDR architectures.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in wireless communications, DSP, SDR development or FPGA design.
- A Master's degree or PhD would be advantageous.
